"Miles Plays Miles" ( Inks on 12" X 24" cold press illustration board ) per the Future-Primitif Rhythmic Zone was done as an album cover for the legendary jazz icon Miles Davis in 1975 by Prof. Onli. He & Miles could reach positive business terms so Onli refused to allow Miles to use it. It is an early masterwork of Rhythmism. During that time Onli was gigging as a major market illustrator.

CHICAGO,- Ongoing at the Bridgeport Art Center, Rhythmistic visual artist, Turtel Onli, presents the Chinese proverb inspired "No Evils" collection of oil and acrylic paintings along with related pencil drawings. The works illustrate future-primitif noble austere beings in a state of Hear No, Seek No and Speak No Evils. Many of the subjects appear nude and bald to remove vanity while focusing on natural powers and confidences. Onli has a MAAT in Art Therapy, and BFA in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Since the 1970s his works often explore aspects of cultural icons and concepts that earlier artists of African descent such as Bearden, White or Catlett did not have the luxury of processing.

Connoisseurs, collectors, curators and critics are welcomed to the regular 3rd Friday open studios program there at ONLI STUDIOS.

Bidding for this exclusive  acrylic masterwork on canvas starts at $5,500.00.  Circa 1998.
